Buyers Guide

Buying a new house is one of the biggest purchases you will ever make. We hope that buying with Garrisons Estate will be an enjoyable experience but, we know that it can still be daunting, particularly if you’re a first time buyer. Read on for our step by step guide to buying your new house, and to find out how we can help you.

Step 1 – Get your finances in order:

The initial first step would be to work out if you can afford to buy a house right now financially. For most people this will involve arranging a mortgage. It’s never too early to start thinking about this process. We are at hand to guide you through this process and offer you free advice.

Step 2 – Finding the right property:

The most important part of buying a new house is the search process. Registering your interest with us means that we’ll be there to guide you at this point in the process; you may not have found your dream home yet, but we’d like to think that we can take some of the strain out of the search.

Step 3 – Making an offer:

Once you’ve found the right home for you the next step would be to make an offer. This is done through an estate agent and with Garrisons Estate you can relax a little, knowing that we’re taking care of you during this process. We will keep you updated throughout the process, aiming to remove any undue stress and allow you to make informed decisions.

Step 4 – Contracts and conveyancing:

After an offer is accepted, your solicitor will receive the draft contact from the seller’s solicitors. Once all parties have confirmed and are in agreement the exchange of contracts will go ahead and you’re well on your way to completion. At the point of payments clearing in the sellers account we will release the keys and you’re officially the owner of your new home.

And then…Moving day!

The day of the move can be a stressful time. We’d recommend using a good removal firm to take the physical strain out of the day. Don’t forget to redirect your mail in advance to avoid missing any important letters too.
